Pets
Alpaca make wonderful pets. They are curious, intelligent, easy care animals which possess a very appealing and calming presence. They are a herd animal so you need to have at least two. When choosing your Alpaca pets they should be healthy, bright eyed and friendly.
Pet Boys
We have a selection of pet boys for sale. Please contact Brenda to discuss your needs.

Keeping Alpacas as Pets
- Alpacas don't need any special fencing, although barbed wire and electric fences should be avoided
- No need for crutching, tail docking, dipping or dehorning
- They don't get flystrike or footrot
- They don't require lush pasture. Hay and alpaca nuts (as treats) may supplement their diet.
- Require an annual vaccination – 5-1
- Require worming on an "as required "basis. If they are run with other livestock they should be on the same regime as the others.
- Young animals require an AD&E shot especially in winter.
- Toe nails may need clipping
- Need to be shorn once a year
- No more susceptible to Facial Eczema than other livestock. Easy prevention methods will avoid this.
We will show you how to do the required tasks and offer over the phone advice on any care issues you may have. If you prefer we offer a service that includes vaccinations, worming, shearing and toe nail clipping. Vaccinations, worming and toe nail clipping can be done at shearing time.
